About the Artist

Although Tobi Czumak was born in Toronto, Ontario, after age 10 she was raised in Los Angeles during the golden age of Hollywood surrounded during her youth by those movie-making icons we only hear or read about today. Tobi also became an actress/dancer/choreographer performing in many Screen/Stage productions in Los Angeles and New York.

While on a trip through New England Tobi met her future husband, Frank.  Together they lived and raised their family in New Hampshire. In the mid-1990s they moved to Florida, but not to retire.  Tobi became the President and CEO of DPS, Inc., a litigation and engineering consultant firm,

Then in 2000 she wrote her first novel “Victorial Chase: Silent Justice”      under the pen name of  C. L. Blackburn. (available at Barnes & NobleAmazon , Borders (UK) and other bookstores worldwide.  At the same time, over the last 15 years, Tobi has worked diligently to achieve the artistic level of excellence in her portraits and more recently in her seascapes and landscapes.

Tobi has been doodling and sketching most of her life, but had no idea she would become so proficient at painting portraits. In 1989 Tobi lost her 14 year old son, Cory, to cancer (check his portrait in the Portrait Gallery). During that time she met another family at the treatment center with a 5-year-old boy, Chris, also diagnosed with terminal cancer. The mother mentioned many times that she would love to have a portrait done of Chris. A quick snapshot was taken and Tobi began working to fulfill the mother's wish and surprised her by Christmas with his completed portrait. The mother's response, "Oh, my God! That's my Christopher." Check the “Chris” portrait in the Portrait Gallery.

Tobi has since become not only a prolific portrait artist, but is gaining well-earned recognition as a seascape and landscape artist as well. Completely self-taught, her work is hanging in educational facilities, corporate offices and private collections throughout the United States and Canada.  In particular, her portrait artwork conveys her remarkable ability to capture not only the likeness of her subject, but their personality as well. In each commission she is truly dedicated to creating a meaningful and timeless treasure for her clients.

Her Seascapes and Landscapes clearly define this artist as a realist and adds yet another dimension to her creativity. Although the artist's enjoys working her portraits in fine colored pencil art, she will, often, work in oils, watercolor, acrylics or pencil/graphite.
